Hello, I'm Julie, founder of Harding Tutorials
11+ Subject Specialist, Key Stage 2 Support (Maths, Reading, SPaG & Writing), Key Stage 3 English
I have been privately tutoring children in Maths English and 11+ familiarisation for over a decade. Originally from the North-East of England, I went to Art college to study Film & Photography and trained as a psychiatric nurse before marrying Peter in 2000 and starting my family. As a mother of three sons, I soon turned my attention to education and have undertaken many roles over the years in this field.
Beginning as a registered child-minder, I acquired an interest in early-years development which I secured through various NVQ courses (Levels 2, 3 & 4) and as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School setting where I gained vast experiences attending courses on everything from paediatric First Aid through Safeguarding and to Behaviour Management and Dyslexia/SEN support.
As I reached middle age I decided to go back to school where I studied for my degree in English Literature, while raising my boys and starting my Tutorial business. After which, I worked in a Secondary School for almost a year, training to be an English Teacher.
While this offered me many insights into modern secondary education, the best thing is gave me was the access to like minded teachers, also looking for new and innovative ways to teach in a more child centred way.
It is through these opportunities, I have created a purpose built, modern and creative learning space where these like-minded adults can help children to thrive.
